The Eisner Foundation Recent Grantees

The Eisner Foundation is proud to have made the following grants over the past calendar year:

After-School Programs
To provide support for Afternoon Tutoring & College Prep program which meets  the academic needs of over 200 students (grades 1-12) and trains their parents to be educational advocates in Mar Vista and Culver City area: $100,000 to Mar Vista Family Center (Culver City, CA).

Arts Education
To support an organization that provides 199 weekly dance classes to over 1,500 underserved inner-city children, ages 4-18, in Rampart-Pico Union area of Los Angeles: $75,000 to the Gabriella Axelrad Education Foundation (Los Angeles, CA). 

To provide support to an organization that offers theatre arts program for 300 middle school and high school youth in Venice and Mar Vista areas: $100,000 to Inside Out Community Arts (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for an arts education program that serves approximately 1,400 students on all five Camino Nuevo Charter Academy campuses in MacArthur Park/Pico Union area of Los Angeles: $300,000 to P.S. Arts (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for an organization that offers in-school and after-school arts programs at a charter school serving 320 students in grades 6 – 12 in Northeast Los Angeles: $100,000 to Renaissance Arts Academy (Los Angeles, CA).

College Access
To provide support for College Bound Expansion program which assists low-income students in the South Bay in graduating from high school and attending college: $150,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor (San Pedro, CA).

To provide support for the College Scholars Program, which helps 150 low-income high school students gain admission to and graduate from four-year colleges across the country: $60,000 to One Voice (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for an organization that recruits and trains 90 diverse youth leaders from urban public high schools and sends them with four-year, full-tuition scholarships to its partner institutions: $100,000 to Posse Foundation (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for an organization that offers rigorous training and academic support to ensure 500 6th-12th grade students in the USC neighborhood of south Los Angeles enter and graduate from college: $125,000 to USC’s Neighborhood Academic Initiative (Los Angeles, CA).

Disability
To provide services for children with learning, emotional and developmental disabilities: $150,000 to Exceptional Children's Foundation (Los Angeles, CA).

Family Services

To support an organization that provides a comprehensive continuum of care for homeless and low-income individuals: $250,000 to Harbor Interfaith Services (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide education and social services for low-income families and 120 at-risk children (ages 0-5) in Pasadena: $100,000 to Mothers’ Club Family Learning Center (Pasadena, CA).

To provide support for an organization that helps underserved children and families in East and South Los Angeles with early education, workforce development, English as Second Language curriculum: $150,000 to PUENTE Learning Center (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide infants and toddlers at the Early Learning Center opportunities for healthy growth and development: $250,000 to Saint Anne's Foundation (Los Angeles, CA).

Foster Care
To provide support for an organization that serves 1,200 foster children (ages 6-18) with access to special education resources and services to overcome their learning delays and disabilities: $300,000 to the Alliance for Children’s Rights (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide services for foster and adoptive parents/families, and recruit more homes for children waiting for care: $150,000 to Child S.H.A.R.E.  (Los Angeles, CA).    

To provide support to improve the quality of life of over 825 children and 635 caregivers and empower and advocate for kinship families throughout Los Angeles County: $150,000 to Grandparents As Parents, Inc. (Los Angeles, CA).

To support the Child Abuse Treatment program which will assist in treating abused children: $150,000 to House of Ruth (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide foster youth with transitional and independent living plans and services: $300,000 to Public Counsel (Los Angeles, CA).

Healthcare
To provide support for an organization that helps to increase access to oral health programs and services for 4,100 children in South Los Angeles: $100,000 to The Children’s Dental Center (Los Angeles, CA).

To support a children’s dental clinic that provides services to children from low-income families in the South Bay: $100,000 to Children’s Dental Health Clinic (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide comprehensive primary health care services to children who are low-income and uninsured or underinsured:  $240,000 to Venice Family Clinic (Los Angeles, CA).

K-12 Education
To help the organization bring the Space Shuttle Orbiter Endeavour from NASA, create a new Air and Space Center, and sustain ongoing educational programs and operations: $150,000 to the California Science Center (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for an organization that places 225 City Year corps members in Los Angeles public schools in order for them to serve as tutors, mentors, and role models to 3,105 students: $100,000 to City Year Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA).

To support an organization that provides comprehensive educational and family services to low-income children, youth, and families in Los Angeles County: $250,000 to Para Los Niños (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for an organization that recruits, selects, trains and develops Teach For America’s corps members and alumni in Los Angeles: $150,000 to Teach for America (Los Angeles, CA).

Mental Health
To provide support for an organization that serves 17,000 children and families impacted by child abuse and neglect, interfamilial and community violence, and serious mental health needs: $300,000 to The Children’s Institute (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for an organization that offers a Child Abuse Prevention & Treatment Program serving at least 750 children in the child protective system: $100,000 to El Nido Family Services (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for an organization that serves 27,000 residents of Eastern Los Angeles County with sexual assault crisis intervention and prevention services: $75,000 to Project Sister Family Services (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for support for Children’s Services Program which provides comprehensive intervention and support services to the youngest victims of domestic violence in Long Beach: $100,000 to WomenShelter of Long Beach (Long Beach, CA).

Senior Support
To provide support for the Senior Legal Services program which offers comprehensive legal services to low-income seniors: $125,000 to Bet Tzedek Legal Services (Los Angeles, CA). 

To provide support for an organization that serves low-income communities in Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley through youth education and senior programs: $60,000 to El Centro de Accion Social (Pasadena, CA).

To provide support for the HomeMeds program, a nationally-recognized intervention that prevents/resolves medication-related problems for older adults: $100,000 to the Partners In Care Foundation (Los Angeles, CA).     

To support a program that provides education on sustained nutrition, adult day care, and other health promotion services for 5,000 seniors in the greater downtown Los Angeles area: $150,000 to St. Barnabas Senior Center (Los Angeles, CA).

Small Grants
To provide support for an organization that offers low-cost aquatic therapy programs for disabled youth and seniors: $15,000 to the California Aquatic Therapy & Wellness Center (Long Beach, CA).

To provide support for an after-school program that serves 200 students each year from the Arlington Heights area of Los Angeles: $10,000 to The Center for LifeLong Learners (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for an agency that provides forensic services to physically and sexually abused youth in the Pomona area: $15,000 to The Children’s Advocacy Center (Pomona, CA).

To provide support for an organization that offers housing and support for pregnant women and their children: $15,000 to Elizabeth House (Pasadena, CA).

To provide support for an after-school program that provides academic support, mentorship and health education to 75 elementary school children and their families in South Los Angeles: $25,000 to The Foundation for Second Chances (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for a garden-based educational program that teaches a comprehensive curriculum to over 850 students at an elementary school in South Los Angeles: $20,000 to the Garden School Foundation (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for an organization that offers leadership development for low-income girls from the Boyle Heights area: $15,000 to Girls Today Women Tomorrow (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for an organization that serves over 500 youth and families affected by HIV/AIDS through year-round programming and support services: $25,000 to The Laurel Foundation (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for a curriculum that teaches conflict resolution and community service learning to over 2,200 at-risk students in Los Angeles: $25,000 to Peace First Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for the Motivational Reading Program which promotes literacy and builds at-home libraries for at-risk youth in Los Angeles County: $25,000 to Reading Is Fundamental (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for an organization that offers Southeast Asian youth workshops and other opportunities to become leaders and stakeholders in their respective communities: $15,000 to the Southeast Asian Community Alliance (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for an organization that uses arts-based rehabilitation to improve the lives of at-risk youth throughout Los Angeles County: $15,000 to Street Poets (Los Angeles, CA).

To provide support for an after-school program that serves up to 50 children daily from the Watts area of South Los Angeles: $25,000 to Urban Compass (Los Angeles, CA).
