The Eisner Foundation Announces Seed Grants Program

September 9, 2008

BACKGROUND

The Eisner Foundation announces its new seed grants program that provides grants in the range of
$5,000 to $15,000 to emerging, grassroots-oriented organizations. These grants are designed to encourage innovation and creativity and to reward entrepreneurial organizations with visionary leadership, big imaginations, and small budgets.

WHAT WE FUND

The Eisner Foundation has been funding innovative and effective non-profit organizations that improve and enrich the lives of underserved children in Southern California since 1996. In 2008, we recognized that many of the same attributes that the children we serve unfortunately possess—physical and emotional vulnerability, extreme poverty, lack of advocacy on their behalf, minimal access to the arts, and general powerlessness—also applied to many members of our rapidly aging population in the community.

We thus elected to broaden our funding focus to include those at both ends of the spectrum of life, the young and the old. We are now dedicated to bringing about lasting changes in the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable people starting and ending their lives in Los Angeles County.
